Planning to Study in Ireland? Know All About the Intakes!

Continuously ranked in the top study abroad destinations for exceptional quality of life and human development, Ireland is increasingly becoming a top destination for Indian students. With a vibrant culture that rewards entrepreneurial spirit and offers several employment opportunities to grow professionally, Ireland can teach lessons which can go beyond the class curriculum.

Understanding the application process for universities in Ireland can be confusing since it’s different from the procedure followed in Indian universities. Unlike a single intake in the universities in India, Irish universities and colleges can offer two major intakes. Intakes may also be referred to as a semester in some universities. The two intakes available in Ireland are:
  • Autumn/Semester 1: Starts early September and runs till December
  • Spring/Semester 2: Starts late January through to May

Which intake should you choose?

The study abroad consultants often get confused students struggling to choose the intake which is best for them. However, in order to make the right decision you can consider factors such as availability of your preferred program, academic results and excellence, entrance test scores, acceptance rates, job opportunities and your readiness to join the program while making the decision.

Though most of the Indian students prefer the September intake, January intake is equally good for certain programs. We suggest, if you do not have your score cards handy. It’s better to skip the haste and apply for the next intake.
